Modules

The IBM Power Systems VIOS collection contains modules that can be used in a playbook to automate tasks on VIOS. Ansible executes each module on the target node and returns the result back to the controller. While different modules perform different tasks, their interfaces and responses follow similar patterns.

Reference material for each module contains documentation on the accepted parameters and their expected values.

Contents:

• alt_root_vg – Create/Cleanup an alternate rootvg disk on a VIOS
• backupios – Creates an installable image of the root volume group
• mapping_facts – Returns the mapping between physical, logical, and virtual devices as facts
• updateios – Updates the Virtual I/O Server to the latest maintenance level
• viosbr – Backup/Restore the configuration of the VIOS
• viosecure – Configures security hardening rules and firewall
• viosupgrade – Upgrades the Virtual I/O Server
