You can migrate from the IBM Event Streams Community Edition to IBM Event Streams.
Note: IBM Event Streams Community Edition is no longer available from 1 May 2020. For information about trying out Kafka and Event Streams for free, see the product pages.
Migrating involves removing your previous Community Edition installation and installing IBM Event Streams in the same namespace and using the same release name. Using this procedure, your settings and data are also migrated to the new installation if you had persistent volumes enabled previously.
- Log in to your cluster as an administrator by using the IBM Cloud Private CLI:
cloudctl login -a https://<cluster-address>:<cluster-router-https-port>
- Delete the Community Edition installation, making a note of the namespace and release name:
helm delete --purge <release_name>
This command does not delete the PersistentVolumeClaim (PVC) instances. Your PVCs are reused in your new IBM Event Streams installation with the same release name.
- Install IBM Event Streams in the same namespace and using the same release name as used for your previous Community Edition installation. Ensure you select the
ibm-eventstreams-prodchart, and apart from the namespace and release name, also ensure you retain the same configuration settings you used for your previous installation, such as persistent volume settings.
IBM Event Streams is installed with the configuration settings and data migrated from the Community Edition to your new IBM Event Streams installation.
