Event Endpoint Management continues to be available and enhanced as part of IBM's integration platforms.

Event Streams and Event Processing are deprecated and no enhancements will be provided. Support and security fixes will be provided in line with published support lifecycle policies. Future event-driven solutions that make use of Apache Kafka and Apache Flink will be delivered by IBM Confluent.

Event Streams installation reports Blocked status

Symptoms

When installing a new instance of Event Streams on an OpenShift Container Platform cluster, installation fails with status of the Event Streams instance as Blocked.

  • The following condition message related to IBM Cloud Pak for Integration is displayed in the status of the instance:

    This instance requires IBM Cloud Pak for Integration operator version 7.2.0 or later.
    Install the required version of the IBM Cloud Pak for Integration operator as described in https://ibm.biz/int-docs.
    This instance will remain in the `Blocked` status until the correct operator version is installed.
    
  • The following condition message related to IBM Cloud Pak foundational services is displayed in the status of the instance:

    This instance requires foundational services version 3.19.0 or later.
    Install the required version of the foundational services operator as described in https://ibm.biz/es-cpfs-installation. 
    This instance will remain in the `Blocked` status until the correct operator version is installed.
    

Causes

There could be several reasons, for example, you are trying to install your instance with Keycloak authentication, but IBM Cloud Pak for Integration and a supported version of foundational services is not installed in your cluster.

Resolving the problem

Based on your requirements, install IBM Cloud Pak for Integration or its dependencies such as a supported version of foundational services before installing an instance of Event Streams.
