Event Endpoint Management continues to be available and enhanced as part of IBM's integration platforms.

Event Streams and Event Processing are deprecated and no enhancements will be provided. Support and security fixes will be provided in line with published support lifecycle policies. Future event-driven solutions that make use of Apache Kafka and Apache Flink will be delivered by IBM Confluent.

Event Streams CLI fails with ‘not a registered command’ error

Symptoms

When running the kubectl es command, the following error message is displayed:

FAILED
'es' is not a registered command. See 'kubectl help'.

A similar error message is displayed when running the cloudctl es command:

FAILED
'es' is not a registered command. See 'cloudctl help'.

Causes

This error occurs when you attempt to use the Event Streams CLI before it is installed.

Resolving the problem

Log in to the Event Streams UI, and install the CLI.
