Tutorials Overview

This tutorial set walks you through the core workflows of IMS Explorer for VS Code:

  1. Exploring the user interface — Learn where to find IMS views, the status bar controls, and how to navigate catalogs.
  2. Creating an IMS project — Set up a project to organize SQL, define connections, and standardize team workflows.
  3. Connecting to an IMS database — Configure connection profiles, browse DBDs/PSBs/PCBs, and verify connectivity.
  4. Creating and executing SQL — Author queries, run them against a chosen connection, and analyze results.
  5. Result history and exports — Reopen past result sets and download CSV files.

Prerequisites: Ensure VS Code (1.105+), Java 21 (64‑bit) or later, and optional Git are installed; also consider configuring Java and IMS Workspace settings before starting the tutorials.
